If you’ve ever forgotten a key ingredient for your Thanksgiving meal, you probably know you’re not completely out of luck.
Most grocery stores, like Publix and Winn-Dixie, will be closed for the holiday, but there are a few that stay open for at least some part of the day.
Here’s which stores will and won’t be open in Florida on Thanksgiving Day.
What stores are open on Thanksgiving Day 2024? Walgreens?
Walgreens
Only 24-hour Walgreens locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Walgreens stores that aren’t 24-hour locations will be closed. Walgreens will be open on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Whole Foods
Most Whole Foods stores are actually open on Thanksgiving Day, but have modified hours.
“Many of our stores are open for modified hours on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day,” the Whole Foods website says. “We’re closed on Christmas Day. Check your local store page for details.”
Sprouts
Sprouts stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day, but only until 2 p.m. local time, according to the holiday hours posted on its website.
Sprouts will open at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Will Publix be open on Thanksgiving?

No. Publix stores will not be open on Thanksgiving Day. It’s one of the three days a year that the Florida-based grocery store chain closes its doors to allow employees time with their loved ones.
Publix stores only close for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club will be closed on Thanksgiving. They also close on New Year’s Day, Christmas and Easter.
CVS
Whether or not CVS is open on Thanksgiving Day varies from location to location, but many are open with modified hours.
“Most CVS Pharmacy locations are either open from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving or are Closed,” CVS’s website says.
“Check local hours on our CVS store locator to ensure you can pick up last-minute Thanksgiving Food on time.”
Winn-Dixie
Winn-Dixie is not open on Thanksgiving Day.
“All Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores will be closed Thanksgiving Day to give associates a well-deserved day of rest with family and friends,” A recent press release from Southeastern Grocers said.
